Kingston Wealth are a dynamic team of two - Panama Resident Richard Grimes is the adviser and Sarah Robinson Practice Manager. Richard answers a few questions for us.
How long have you been in business?
18 months. Kingston Wealth was formed when I moved to Hamilton from Nelson.
How many people are in your team?
Two.
How did you end up doing what you’re doing?
I started my working career as a Chartered Accountant. In 2008 I moved into investment advice with BNZ Private Bank and in 2017 I formed a new investment advice business with two other advisers. Kingston Wealth was set up when I moved to Hamilton.
How long have you been a Panama resident?
Six months.
Favourite co-working perk?
The energy from working alongside interesting people.
What is your favourite kind of work/ project?
Helping clients to understand markets and feel comfortable with their investments . Keeping up with global news on the big issues of our age and the impact on investments. I find it exciting looking to the future in areas like technology, decarbonisation, geo politics.
Favourite place to holiday?
Golden Bay.
What was your first *proper* job?
School holiday job at a joinery factory.
If you had to change industry, what job would you choose?
Industrial engineer.
Any recommended reads?
The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson.
What do you love most about Hamilton?
All the new and exciting building projects in the city.
Where do you go for Saturday brunch?
Hayes Common, Grey Street Kitchen or Scotts Epicurian
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m possibly a jack of all trades king of none.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A morning person with a pick me up coffee required at 10.00.
Someone who inspires you?
My workmates at the office give me all the inspiration I need!
What is something you are passionate about?
Decarbonisation - the issue of our lifetime.
If money was no object, what would you do all day?
Travelling around NZ for tramping mountain biking, golf and visiting our three children. Voluntary work for environment rejuvintation projects, education for disadvantaged children.
Who is your hero?
I don’t really have one but I do love the Batman movies especially The Dark Night.
